Why We Live in Clinton

I'm a professor at the NYU business school located in Greenwich Village. About ten years ago, when my sons were toddlers, a friend in the city mentioned that the Hudson Valley was the best place to be in terms of commuting time, value for money, and space. The first time I drove up here, I realized that Clinton and the surrounding area are truly unique: the water, greenery, open spaces, and less than two hours from the city. For many years I have enjoyed this beauty and tranquility. My kids played soccer regularly in the local leagues. And I worked hard to improve my house and grounds.

Then, a little over a year ago, I heard about many new developments being considered in the area. I realized that my neighbors and I shared the same concerns; we did not want uncontrolled and ill-conceived development that would cause irreversible harm to the natural beauty of our town. This is what brought many of us here in the first place. Because of these common concerns and, interestingly, other things in common, I have deepened my sense of community! I've come to realize that the people here --my neighbors, the old timers, and all the migrants from the city-- represent a rich and interesting cross-section of society. Life in Clinton is truly wonderful!
