granddaughter, Sage Kurten, is the 5th generation of my family
to live in the Hudson Valley, so we know the valley well. When
my husband and I found our house in Clinton forty-four years
ago, we felt we'd found a valley hideaway. After working
on the house for months, we moved in with our children and
quickly developed an amazing affinity with what seemed a
bit of paradise. |

Artists,
writers, horse people, tucked away along the country roads, getting
together for fun or civic duty and/or pride, when necessary.
Mostly people who enjoyed the country atmosphere and its pleasures.
After all these years it still feels a bit like "Brigadoon." I
feel immensely privileged to have enjoyed Clinton's special, quiet
atmosphere all these years.
The
pressure now brought by developers (including someone as related
to the area as Robert Fried) without thought of the character
and 'feel' of our area seems tragic. I sincerely hope that Clinton
United will have the impact to restore balance to this equation. Keep
going strong!
