Update on Serenity Hills Development

The Clinton Town Board is in the process of appointing a Review Committee to "officially" respond to the Serenity Hills subdivision proposal, as the project wends its way through the Hyde Park Planning Board SEQRA review over the next couple of years. The proposed Committee will consist of a Town Board member as Chairperson, one representative from the Clinton Planning Board, one from the Clinton Conservation Advisory Committee (CAC), and two local residents. This group will be responsible for representing Clinton's interests during the review process.

The next step in the process will be on June 21, 2006 when the Hyde Park Planning Board will hold a Public Hearing for citizens to voice their response and concerns about the scope of the draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) that the Serenity Hills developers are required to submit. The DEIS must contain a description of the proposed development, its environmental setting, its purpose and benefits, its potential significant environmental effects, and proposed mitigation measures. To obtain a copy of this "scoping document" for review prior to the Public Hearing, call Donna Knapp, secretary of the Hyde Park Planning Board, 845-229-0316.
